Thomas Murphy advises software engineering leaders on how to effectively utilize collaborative practices to drive customer value. He specializes in DevOps, software quality, and application development, and his research covers culture and practices for high performing teams, continuous quality and autonomous test automation. Mr. Murphy provides guidance to CIOs and senior technology leaders, as well as software and service providers who are refining their product strategies and positioning. Previous experience

Mr. Murphy has more than 30 years of experience in IT, spending time as a developer, product manager, technical editor and industry analyst. Prior to rejoining Gartner, he worked at Microsoft in the Visual Studio TFS group. Previously, he was an analyst with Meta Group and Gartner. He served on the board of directors for the OMG and led product strategies at ObjectShare. Early in his career, he was a technical editor at Software Development and AI Expert magazines; he also built custom tools for scientific research and embedded systems. His development experience spans embedded systems, Smalltalk, Java, and C/C++ utilizing agile practices.
