Lawrence Orans is a Managing VP within Gartner's Software Engineering Practice and leads a team of analysts who do research on application integration, APIs and software engineering security. His team's research focuses on helping software engineering leaders with the key decisions and initiatives they must undertake due to artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation and other important trends.
Prior to moving into a management role, Mr. Orans spent twenty-four years as a Gartner analyst. For seventeen of those years, he tracked network security topics. Before that, he was a network infrastructure analyst.
Prior to joining Gartner in 1997, Mr. Orans held systems engineering positions at IBM, 3Com and Bay Networks (via Wellfleet Communications), where he worked with enterprises on designing and implementing secure network infrastructures.
