Evan Zeng
Sr Director Analyst
Evan Zeng is a Senior Research Director in Gartner Research and Advisory, where he is part of the Technology Product Management practice. He focuses on delivering research and advice to product management and various business leaders in technology and service provider organizations around the world, while also advises senior IT leaders and CIOs for technology adoption to support digital transformation. Mr. Zeng joined Gartner in December 2010. His professional experience is wide and includes senior positions in end-user organizations and technology and service provider companies.
After two decades of working in China, in 2015 Mr. Zeng moved to Sydney to integrate western technology best practices with his deep China expertise. In 2022, he moved back to China. Mr. Zeng has been maintaining great balance to cover multiple domains of technologies and western vs Chinese vendors. He has deep practitioner expertise maintaining a trace-to-the-root focus to provide insights. His cross-domain technology know-hows really differentiates him as analyst to serve senior leaders at technology providers, end users and investor organizations.
Previous experience
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Zeng was the general manager in 21Vianet Group, running China's first cloud service provider business and 21Vianet's enterprise data center business. Mr. Zeng owned the whole product portfolio, resources and took profit & loss (P&L) responsibility for his BU.
Before 21Vianet, Mr. Zeng held various leadership positions at Cisco Advanced Service organization in China over a period of 12 years, including being the leader of service delivery leader, product and portfolio management and business development.
Mr. Zeng also gained experience at Global One Communication as its infrastructure operations manager, where he led a team of engineers to build China's first internet infrastructure networks. Prior to that, Mr. Zeng held engineering posts, focusing on data center design and IT infrastructure implementation and operation, particularly in the telecommunications and service provider industries.
