Gartner strives to meet the highest standards for accuracy and thoroughness in our research and editorial coverage. When oversights occur, however, we will list them below.

31 December 2013 
“Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration” (G00253758) has been republished to correct the placement of Omada on the Magic Quadrant from the Niche Players quadrant to the Challengers quadrant. We also revised text in the Vendor Strengths and Cautions section. NetIQ’s second Strengths bullet was revised to state that NetIQ Identity Manager remains popular. Omada’s first Cautions bullet was revised to point out that Microsoft is shifting, not de-emphasizing, its focus from the on-premises FIM product line toward cloud-based alternatives in Azure over the long term. Finally, SailPoint’s second Cautions bullet was modified to state that the skill sets of SailPoint’s partners, beyond typical configuration and deployment, are limited. Gartner has made two updates to the “Magic Quadrant for Application Services Governance” (G00247339), both related to Apigee. We made a slight increase in Apigee’s Ability to Execute positioning due to Apigee’s sustained commitment to API management, thus causing Apigee’s dot position on the Magic Quadrant to move. The third Cautions bullet in the Apigee write-up was also modified to acknowledge Apigee’s efforts to market to the business audience, while reflecting the research opinion that other vendors have been more successful. “Competitive Landscape: Backup and Recovery Appliances for Open Systems, Worldwide, 2013” (G00246542) was revised to present Gartner’s revenue estimates in billions of dollars rather than millions. “Critical Capabilities for Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service” (G00255647) has been republished with notices that (1) IBM no longer offers IBM SmartCloud Enterprise (SCE) and will migrate all customers from SCE to SoftLayer by January 2014; (2) Savvis no longer actively sells Symphony VPDC, but is instead directing prospective customers to the newly-acquired Tier 3 offering; (3) Tier 3 has been acquired by CenturyLink, and its offering has been rebranded the CenturyLink Cloud.

“Magic Quadrant for Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications” (G00247059) has been revised to correct the first Cautions bullet in the Planview write-up, to specify where Planview must continue to evolve its product’s ability to filter, view, cross-reference and analyze the state and health of the application inventory. ETC should be defined as electronic toll collection, and MTC as manual traffic control. Additionally, in Table 1, the last row/first column (Project Background and Demand) should state there are 156 connections for the ETC/MTC lanes; the last row/second column (Leverage Technology and Implementation) should state that the system can register 2.4 million cars, but currently averages 1.29 million. We’ve added text to the Vendors Added and Dropped section of the “Magic Quadrant for On-Premises Application Integration Suites” (G00248983) to explain that Magic Software was not included in this version of the Magic Quadrant because Gartner has raised the criteria for revenue from application integration and back-end SOA infrastructure middleware, and the vendor’s relevant revenues were insufficient to qualify this year. In “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools” (G00247545), we’ve revised the vendor name for SAP on the Magic Quadrant graphic to remove the product name. We also revised the second strength and the two cautions for BiZZdesign to include the opening of offices in France and Eastern Europe, to clarify their origin as an EA modeling tool based on customer experience, as well as academic input, and to explain that its product offering is now capable of modifying the meta model through a graphical user interface, while scripting language is used for more extensive controls and for advanced reporting. “Who’s Who in NoSQL DBMSs” (G00252015) has been republished to make a few changes to the Oracle section. “Magic Quadrant for On-Premises Application Integration Suites” (G00248983) has been revised. In a conversation during Gartner’s Magic Quadrant development, iWay’s intention for its products being assessed was not accurately conveyed. The new text more accurately reflects those intentions (see the first bulleted item in the “Dropped” section under “Vendors Added or Dropped.” The updated document is now available on gartner.com.

In “Recommended Configurations for Enterprise Notebooks, 2013” (G00246706), we have corrected two labels in the first column of Figure 1.
