Brian Doherty

Sr Director Analyst

Brian Doherty is an analyst with Gartner's Tech Product Manager team within the Technology and Service Providers research unit. Mr. Doherty's research deals with product management across various technology domains, with a special focus on unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), agile principles and practices, building physical devices, and video applications.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Doherty was Vice President of Engineering and Product Development for WatchGuard Video. He led WatchGuard's 90-person team of product managers, hardware designers, software and firmware engineers, and quality assurance personnel to define, build and maintain WatchGuard's camera and software offerings.

Before joining WatchGuard, Mr. Doherty was Director of Engineering for endpoint software in Cisco Systems' Unified Communications Technology Group (UCTG). He led software development for Cisco's IP phones, including the best-selling 78xx and 88xx series, where he and his team migrated classic on premise endpoint software to be deployable as a cloud based service using a DevOps model. Previously within Cisco, he led hardware and software development for Cisco's award winning DX line of desktop telepresence devices, combining low latency 1080p bidirectional media with full Android functionality.

Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Doherty led enterprise software development at Samsung for their Galaxy S line of devices, including Exchange ActiveSync, VPN, and MDM support; and what would eventually become SAFE and KNOX.
